Laying tiles is not hard, but one has to make sure that one does it correctly. If not you could end up wasting a lot of time and money.
Here are some of things you should learn:
- How to cut the tiles to the correct size that you need
- How to cut around faucets, jams and wall plugs
- When and how to use tile nippers
- How to size the joints correctly
- How to install the backer-board correctly
- How to lay it out
- How to mix and spread
- How to grout
Here's how.
You buy videos. Videos that show you how to lay tiles. This way you learn from a professional, but don't pay him an exorbitant fee. Also, you can watch it over and over. You can also watch it a little at a time as you need it. Watch what you need. Go do it. Then come back and watch the next thing. Go do it. And so on.
This way you won't forget what you learnt. Have you ever heard someone tell you something, thought you understood and then later couldn't really remember what they said. It happens to me all the time.
That's why I think these videos are great. Not only do they show you what to do, they show you what to do when you need it.
I looked all over the internet and have listed the How to Lay Tile videos in the Resources section on the right.
